Maharashtra Government issue 3 different cards to different people so-called Tricolour Ration Cards Scheme. Under it, three types of cards- Yellow card, Saffron Ration Cards, and White Ration Card have been allotted to the citizens.

A. Yellow Ration Card-

Families earning total annual income up to Rs.15000/- are considered under the yellow ration card. Along with this, some other conditions are also applied-

Any member of the family should not be a Doctor or lawyer or Chartered Accountant or Architect. None of the members should be a professionals taxpayer, a sales taxpayer, or an income taxpayer or eligible for it. The family should not have four wheeler vehicle and residential telephone and none of the members should hold 2-hectare rain-fed or one hectare semi-irrigated or 1/2 hectare irrigated (double in drought-prone talukas) land.

B. BPL Ration Card-

The government of Maharashtra has decided to allot the Below Poverty Line (BPL) Ration Card to all Vidi workers, all members of the Pradhi & Kolhati Community, abandoned women, and all non-working cloth mills, cotton mills, and sugar factories workers.

Families beneficiated under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana are selected from the BPL families on the following basis- Households by Widows, terminally ill persons, disabled persons and persons who have attained the age of 60 years or more and lacking the means of subsistence, tribal households, priority is also given to the HIV/AIDS affected persons.

C. Saffron Ration Card-

Families having a total annual income exceeding 15000 but less than 1 lakh are covered under this scheme and are provided with the saffron-colored card. These families should not possess four-hectare or more irrigated land and none of the members in the family should have four-wheelers mechanical vehicle (except taxi- driver).

D. White Ration Card-

Families whose total annual income is equal to or exceeds Rs. 1 Lac and any member of the family possess the four-wheeler mechanical or the family aggregate holding the irrigated land more than 4 hectares are issued with the White Ration Card.

Renewal Of the Ration Card in Maharashtra-

In Case of the Renewal, Temporary Ration Card will be issued by the government and the same will be issued in the 7 days of the application form submitted to the District Supply Officer. Residential and Income Certificate is also required to be produced with the application form.

Issue of Duplicate Ration Card in Maharashtra-

For the Duplicate Ration Card or Change of the Address in Ration Card from one authorized dealer to another or if the applicant wants to add, delete the name of any member from the ration card, in all these cases application is required to be made to the District Supply Office of the respective area.
