Who Can Apply for Ration Card Chandigarh?

Any person residing or intended to reside permanently in Chandigarh and wants to get the ration card can apply for it. To Avail the benefit of TPDS( Targeted Public Distribution System) it is required to get the Ration Card under Above Poverty Line (APL), Below Poverty Line (BPL), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) categories.

Cards under these categories are issued by holding the survey to verify the statements and declaration given by the applicant in the application form and the basis of classification under BPL & AAY families are fixed by the Government.

Under TPDS many specified commodities are issued to the cardholders at the fair price shops and the discounted price. Manual Ration Card/ Smart Ration Card is issued to the permanent resident of Chandigarh. Biometric Impressions are also taken at the time of receiving the application.

Documents Required for Ration Card Chandigarh-

1. Prescribed application form duly filled and attested by the designated authority.
2. Two colored family photographs, inclusive of the head of the family.
3. Surrender certificate.
4. An affidavit in original duly attested by the Executive Magistrate/ Notary Public.
5. Copy of election photo identity card verified from the electoral roll by the Election department, UT, Chandigarh, or an Employer Certificate issued by a competent authority (in case of Govt. Employees).
6. Registration deed of the house in the name of HOF or allotment letter of the house (in case of Govt. Employee).

Fees for Ration Card Chandigarh-

Amount of Rs. 1/- will be charged for the New MRC/SRC and Rs. 5/- will be charged for the duplicate MRC/SRC.

Types of Ration Card Chandigarh-

A. BPL Card-

On the fulfilling, the conditions and Income Criteria specified by the Government application for the BPL card can be made. A yellow form prescribed for the purpose is to be submitted along with the documents as provided in the procedure.

B. Above Poverty Line-

Above Poverty Line Card is issued to the public within 10 days of the submission of the application. Surrender/ Deletion Certificate obtained from where he has migrated to the Chandigarh and Two Family Group Photographs will also require with the application form.

C. Below Poverty Line-

Families whose income is less than 432.9/- per capita per month are issued with the BPL Card. Detail of the family member, Two Passport Size group Family photographs, Affidavit as specified have to accompanied with the application form. For BPL Card applicant should not have Coloured Television, Refrigerator and Scooter, etc. The yellow-coloured card will issue to the applicants.

D. Antyodaya Card-

Under Antyodaya Scheme, the poorest families from BPL families are identified. Antyodaya Card is allotted to families who are earning less than 250/- per capita per month. Antyodaya card is of green color. Senior Citizens are covered under this scheme. Condition of the not having Coloured Television, Refrigerator and Scooter like BPL Families also applicable to the Antyodaya families.

Issue of Duplicate Ration Card Chandigarh-

The ration Card Application form should be duly filled & Attested by Gazetted Officer/ Public Notary and have two family group Photographs and a copy of DDR showing the ration Card Number also.

Addition Of the Member Name-

For the addition of the member, firstly application request by the applicant is necessary. Along with it, in case of the adult deletion/ surrender certificate obtained from the migrated place and for the children less than 5 years birth certificate and Teekaran Copy, Birth Certificate and Affidavit for the children aged more than 5 years is mandatory to be presented at the respective office. 2 passport size group family photographs should be affixed.

Deletion of the Member Name-

For deletion of the member’s name from the ration card, an application form and 2 photographs of the remaining member shall be submitted to the concerned authority.

Surrender of Ration Card Chandigarh UT-

If the applicant wants to surrender the Ration card at Chandigarh, so he shall request for it to the concerned authority with the application form and original ration card.

# If a person is receiving specified commodities from the Navel/ Military/ Airforce Authority for himself or the members of his family then in such case he is not entitled to get the ration card. He will be entitled to a ration card if he produces a certificate from the unit stating that the person is not receiving any article from there.

# A person who is residing with the applicant’s family including servant, his name can also be included in the applicant’s ration card if he submits Surrender/ Deletion Certificate along with the application form.

Time Frame for Issue of Ration Card Chandigarh-

1. New ration card (MRC/SRC) with requisite conditions- 12 Working days
2. New ration card in case of migration from another state (with surrender certificate)- 12 Working days
3. Duplicate ration card (MRC/SRC)- 7 working days
