The government launched the ‘ Mera Ration ‘ mobile app 12-3-2021, Easy Download ‘मेरा राशन’ मोबाइल ऐप: Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution launched the “Mera Ration” Mobile App on March 12, 2021,  for those ration card holders who move to new places in search of livelihood.

Currently, 32 States and Union areas are included under the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) and the remaining four States and UTs are demanded to be combined into the scheme in the next few months.

The One Nation One Ration Card system includes almost 69 crore National Food Security Act (NFSA) grantees in the country. The scheme has been determined to be of huge value-added service to each NFSA beneficiary during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially transients, as it allowed them to avail themselves the advantage of subsidized foodgrains.

What is National Food Security Act?

Under National Food Security Act, the center presents highly subsidized foodgrains at Rs 1-3 per kg to covering 81 crore people within the public distribution system (PDS). 

The act also gives ration card portability service ‘One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC)’ in 32 states and union areas.

Mera Ration app

The new mobile app ‘Mera Ration’ aims to facilitate the ONORC-related help among NFSA beneficiaries, especially migrant beneficiaries and reasonable price shop (FPS) or ration shop traders and other stakeholders.

The grantees will be able to use the ‘Mera Ration’ app to know the nearest reasonable price shop and check details of their Eligibility, and recent activities. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has been developed The Android-based mobile app. It is now available in Hindi and the English language. Progressively, it will be made available in 14 languages. The languages will be classified based on places where migrant people go mostly to. 

Key Features 

• The migrant recipients will be able to register their movement details within the mobile app. 
• The receivers can register themselves before starting their journey and the system will automatically allocate the labeled foodgrains.
• The NFSA recipients will be able to use the app to recognize the nearest FPS and check details of their foodgrains eligibility and the previous six-month activities and the status of Aadhaar seeding.
• Through the app, the beneficiary will know what he is eligible to and he need not ask the FPS trader how much he would get. 
• The recipients can log in to the app applying for their Aadhaar or ration card number.
